EA has confirmed plans to remaster a number of fan-favourites in the next fiscal year which include 'Need For Speed Underground 2' and 'Command & Conquer'.

The news comes via a recent call to investors where EA revealed a host of potential franchise reboots that will excite gamers throughout the world.

In the same period, EA is also planning to release two currently-unannounced projects from third-party teams, and a number of internal titles, one of which is set to be a new sporting game.

It’s unclear if this may be the return of a previous franchise such as 'FIFA', or an entirely new entity.

Looking further ahead, the publisher also confirmed that Motive, DICE, BioWare, Maxis and Criterion are all working on unannounced titles.

Fans of the NFS franchise will be elated to hear of the potential reboot of Underground 2, after the original was widely regarded as one of the top games of 2004 due to its superior gameplay, graphics and the addition of “Free Roam” and infinite customisation options.

The game sold over 11 million copies worldwide and was universally praised by top critics on GameRankings and Metacritic.
NFS has been an extremely successful franchise since its original demo was released back in 1994 on PS1.

NFS Heat is the 24th instalment in the series and will commemorate the game’s 25th anniversary with a release date confirmed of November 8.

The game will feature 127 cars from 33 brands with Ferrari returning to the game after being absent from Payback due to licensing issues.

We already know that a revisit to the world of Command & Conquer is on the cards, but what else from EA’s extensive back-catalogue is going to be getting the 2020 treatment?

There are a number of EA’s past titles that could be described as “fan favourite,” including the likes of the iconic Dead Space, the Skate games and – yes – even Need for Speed: Underground 2.

The 2004 NFS classic is one of the stand-out games of the franchise, and a remaster would be a guaranteed big seller for EA. Over on Twitter, fans are eagerly hoping the announcement could mean a remaster is on the way.

Of course, it’s all speculation until we get official word from EA. But here’s hoping!

During the same investor call that saw EA outlines its upcoming plans, the company also stated its plans to release two unannounced games from third-party teams within the same period.

Other games are also in the pipeline from the company’s internal devs, one of which has been confirmed to be a sports title.

Which “fan-favourite” EA game would you like to see get itself a remaster?
